Patent leather offers an impeccable style that has endured for generations. Garrett Leather presents the new DiModa Collection: genuine Italian patent leather in new, fashionable colors.
Garrett's DiModa Collection features 33 bold new colors in three distinct styles, including DiModa, DiModa Gatora and DiModa Cobra. The DiModa Collection represents the epitome of Italian style, offering superior quality, bold hues, and a smooth hand that is irresistible to touch. These genuine cowhides undergo several production procedures to create soft and pliable leather that is suitable to use for upholstery applications.
Special finishing techniques are used in the production of DiModa to create a smooth, high gloss appearance. DiModa hides have three separate layers of finish applied to produce a radiant, highly water resistant surface. The special drying method used between each application of finish condenses and tightens the fibers of the DiModa hides, creating the final sturdy, yet flexible product. DiModa is available in four classic colors.

DiModa Gatora receives the same special finishing techniques as the smooth DiModa hides. However, the finish on the DiModa Gatora hides includes a unique pearl effect. In addition, DiModa Gatora hides are negatively printed (printed on the back side) with an alligator pattern, and then the hides are tumbled with water for several hours to increase softness. DiModa Gatora is available in 14 vibrant colors.

DiModa Cobra hides receive the same finishing techniques as DiModa and the same drumming procedures as DiModa Gatora. However, after the second time in the drum, DiModa Cobra hides are staked and cut, giving the realistic reptile effect, then drummed with water and dyed to color the areas where cut, before receiving the final topcoat. DiModa Cobra is available in 15 beautiful colors.

All 33 colors in the DiModa Collection are GREENGUARD certified. Each hide averages approximately 20 square feet, the perfect size to use for accent pieces, pillows, or trim. Due to the smaller hide size, all DiModa colors are sold by the whole hide only. For your convenience, a product diagram is available on our website.

When specifying materials for upholstery, leather can be one of the most expensive options. However, an investment in leather may end up saving more money in the long run, because most quality leather tends to outlast other upholstery materials by up to five times longer. Many times leather is usable for generations, sometimes it even outlasts the furniture upon which it is upholstered! How?
Leather is a natural product that provides a stronger structural weave than many man-made products. Most man-made fabrics have a perpendicular patterned weave. Leather, on the other hand, has multiple layers of random fibers. These fibers provide superior strength and durability. Have you ever tried to puncture a hole into a piece of leather? It is not an easy task.
Many leather products are made to pass stringent abrasion, light fastness, and even flammability tests. Furthermore, most finished leather has water and stain repellents added, making leather an ideal option for high traffic areas.
In addition to the superior durability, using leather may also reduce maintenance costs. While some fabrics require harsh cleaning agents, most finished leather simply needs occasional light dusting with a slightly damp cloth. For spills, a clean, dry cloth should be used to blot the area immediately. A clean cloth, lukewarm water and a very mild soap may be used to treat an area with larger spots or stains. Leather should always be allowed to air dry naturally.
Leather has been known to last for generations, contributing to yet another cost-savings: replacement costs. You will not need to worry about re-upholstering again until you are ready. Until then, leather will develop a rich patina and wear beautifully for years to come.
